Helping Children Eat
Poor oral motor control and development, decreased oral awareness, and/or difficulty regulating are just a few reasons why a child may refuse food. With this in mind, our approach to feeding therapy starts with working to create a safe environment that promotes a willingness to engage with non-preferred items. Treatments incorporate several therapeutic models in order to find the best fit for success and carryover into the home environment.
We provide assessment, intervention and parent education services for children needing:
Expansion of limited or restricted diets
Oral motor development and feeding skills
Development of consistent meal time routines
Support around anxiety with new foods
Regulation with non-preferred or novel foods
Support with feeding that affects social participation
Expansion of diets due to medically complex concerns
