Helping Children Function

Occupational therapy is a health and rehabilitation profession which focuses on assisting individuals across their lifespan address their physical, motor, sensory and/or cognitive challenges. Occupational Therapists address one’s daily "occupations" of self-care, work, and play/leisure activities to increase independence, enhance development, and/or prevent disability.  A child’s “occupation” is play and learning!

At Therapy Works, treatment sessions are playful while also meeting your child's "just right" challenge level in order to engage your child for optimal participation and progress.  Using a holistic and child-led approach, the therapist encourages the child to participate in fun but purposeful activities that stimulate all sensory, motor, and cognitive systems. The child/family-based approach focuses on addressing each client's individual physical, psychological, social, cognitive and environmental factors to enhance their overall functional skills.

Parent Education

In conjunction with therapy, ongoing parent education is important. This service is provided at no additional cost in order to support our families and help facilitate optimal collaboration between the parents and therapists. We spend time at the end of each session discussing progress, concerns and home program ideas. In addition, an initial parent conference is included in the cost of the initial evaluation and is crucial for parent education and effective treatment planning.
