Helping Children Move

Pediatric physical therapy addresses the mobility and gross motor needs of children. A child experiencing functional limitations or disability due to trauma, a disorder or disease process affecting ability to move, motor development or motor functions may benefit from physical therapy. Physical therapists can address motor development, motor function, and the ability to move.

Physical therapists are a crucial part of selecting and obtaining the adaptive equipment that may be necessary in assisting your child to maximize their functional potential. This may include equipment such as orthotics, wheelchairs, strollers, walkers, seating systems, car seats etc.

At Therapy Works, your physical therapist will utilize age and cognitively appropriate play-based activities to develop improved strength, balance, flexibility, coordination and mobility using various therapy techniques.

Parent Education

In conjunction with therapy, ongoing parent education is important. This service is provided at no additional cost in order to support our families and help facilitate optimal collaboration between the parents and therapists. We spend time at the end of each session discussing progress, concerns and home program ideas. In addition, an initial parent conference is included in the cost of the initial evaluation and is crucial for parent education and effective treatment planning.
